FOR BOYS:

Mouth Guards are required at all levels.
Soccer Style cleats acceptable.
Lacrosse sticks must be legal length. The ball cannot be visible below the bottom edge of the head sidewall.

First Step through Fourth Grade:
Although LMYL strongly recommends the purchase of a certified lacrosse helmet, the use of ice hockey helmets is allowed from the First Step through the Fourth grade levels. Other hockey equipment (shoulder pads and elbow pads) may also be used. Hockey gloves do not work for lacrosse at any level, as they have a stiff, non-flexible thumb. Protective cups should be worn by 3rd and 4th graders.

5th-8th grades:
Only certified lacrosse helmets may be used. Hockey shoulder pads work, but elbow pads and gloves will not work. Lacrosse specific gloves and elbow/forearm pads are needed. Rib pads, while not required, are valuable. This is particularly true if your son is playing on a travel team. Protective cups are required by all players in these grades.

Required: stick, cleats, mouth guard, jock and cup, shoulder pads, elbow guards, gloves, helmet.

Optional (but recommended): rib guard

FOR GIRLS:

Mouth Guards are required at all levels.
Soccer style cleats acceptable.
Protective eyewear now required for at all levels.

Girls’ lacrosse sticks must be the proper length. Have your child hold the stick where the shaft meets the head. Measure the shaft along the length of arm until armpit; mark, cut and recap. The pocket should be tight and shallow and you should be able to see the ball above the rim of the head.

U.S. Lacrosse approved protective goggles are now required for all girls participating in the LMYL lacrosse program. This includes girls in the recreation program, as well as in the travel program.

Questions regarding team practices or games should be directed to your child’s coach. Coaches will be assigned before Opening Day.

Other questions can be directed to LMYL09@gmail.com. We will respond as soon as possible.

US LACROSSE FAQs

US Lacrosse is the insurance policy that every player must obtain in order to participate in LMYL.

All of our players are required to be US Lacrosse members. The fee is $30 and the membership is valid for a year.

US Lacrosse numbers have to remain valid for the entire duration of our season.  If you’re USLax # expires in March but our season ends in June, you will be prompted to renew.

When prompted to renew your membership with US Lacrosse, a new window should open with the US Lacrosse website.  Once the renewal process is complete, you should just be able to ‘X’ out of the US Lacrosse window and continue filling out the LMYL registration.

You will need to call US Lacrosse directly and explain that you may have duplicate memberships.

Please call Membership Services: 410.235.6882 x102

Unfortunately, US Lacrosse is a separate outside entity and LMYL is unable to help with US Lacrosse related membership problems.
