How is the travel program structured?

Beginning Mid-March, ending first weekend in June

• No LMYL activities are planned for Memorial Day Weekend or school
spring recess.

• Season is usually Mid-March through first weekend in June. The Travel
Spring 2022 season dates are subject to change as needed.

3-4 GRADE TRAVEL

We want to be able to provide the travel program to everyone at this age group who is interested. There are tryouts but we aim to make no cuts. If the registration numbers are larger than one roster can accommodate, we will create additional teams or pods, all will be equal, all of mixed ability. Games are played in a 7v7, cross field format at this age level. Age group focuses on a higher player to coach ratio, skill development, introduction to team culture and bonding, and playing for

  • 8-10 games
  • 1-2 practices & 1 game/wk
  • 1 local tournament
  • Paid Non-Parent Head Coach
  • House Friday Night Clinics & House Saturday Games (House & Travel Players attend)

5-6 GRADE TRAVEL

Tryouts. Depending on registration numbers, we create the appropriate structure of teams. Games are played full field, 10v10/9v9 at this age level. Focus on position training (long stick midfield, face-off /draw control, goalies) continues, building field awareness and game strategy.

  • 8-10 games
  • 1-2 practices & 1 game/wk
  • 1 local tournament
  • Paid Non-Parent Head Coach
  • House Friday Night Clinics & House Saturday Games (House & Travel Players attend)

7-8 GRADE TRAVEL

Tryouts. Depending on registration numbers, we would create the appropriate structure of teams. Games are played full field, 10v10/9v9 at this age level. Games and practices are scheduled to avoid conflicts with HMX modified/intramural lacrosse as much as possible. Begin to align offensive and defensive strategies with the MHS JV and V programs.

  • 10-12 games.
  • 1 practice & 2 games/wk
  • 3 tournaments
  • Paid Non-Parent Head Coach
  • No House program requirements
